11. Content or Email Marketing For Your Business?

Before I begin,

I promised that I'd tell you how to create a Content Calendar.

I'm now going to make good of that promise but before then, know this; In trying to start a content strategy plan, there are three routes you could go through.

First, Owned media is yours. This is super cost effective. It's however way better when you have a large audience through which you can share your content. But I'm sure you want your content going far and wide so let's see the next one.

The second one is Earned Media. This is when someone else picks up on your content and shares it. This helps to build authority because more often than not, you didn't pay the person who picked it up. Your content resonates with them and they feel compelled to share.

Last but definitely not the least as you may have guessed... Paid Media. You literally pay to have for your content to be publicised as far as you would want to the exact type of people you want to distribute it to.

Now that you know the above, structure your Content Calendar like this; Make it super detailed so it can be easy for you to execute daily. How?

1. Outline what it is you want to publish. Make a list.
2. When do you want to publish it? Write it out. (This gives you a clear action plan)
3. Take note of holidays, special days in the year. They're called Keydates and they help you create super custom content for your audience.
4. Make sure to define your audience at each stage of your Calendar.

That said, now there's a chance you want to expand your business using email marketing. There's not a lot different with the two except maybe that you now have to send your customers great content in even more personalised form.

Email Marketing helps you connect with your audience on a one on one level. Through it, you can

• Find out what exactly they'd like to know or hear about. This helps you know how to serve them more accurately.
• Know how often they want to hear from you.
• Connect with them on a more specific level than you did initially

With email marketing, one great benefit is you have a contact database for all your customers. All you need to do is switch autoresponders when you need to and you still get to keep your customers.

Writing emails is not that much different from writing content.

1. You need a good, eye catching headline to capture attention immediately.
2. You need a good hook like you would when writing content.
3. You need to do some research before addressing them.
4. You need to speak in an everyday language. Not salesy. As a matter of fact, you can never be too salesy in an email
 5. You need to include a CTA.

There's a difference though.

Content Marketing deals with attracting customers from within your audience to buy for the very first time and keep buying maybe.

Email Marketing on the other hand seeks to create and maintain a warm buying relationship between you and your customers who have indicated that they are interested in whatever you have to offer.

Tomorrow brings new lessons.
Be here to learn with me, bestie.

Goodnight!
